Get to know Olivia Neitzel!
Olivia will be dancing into our lives this summer as the Choreographer for Beauty and the Beast. She brings grace, passion, and a little dance magic with her.
We asked her some questions, and here is what she has to say…
Briefly list your education/experience in theater:
I participated in local theater from when I was 7-11 years old. During those years, I was in Les Miserables, Damn Yankees, Cinderella, High School Musical, Annie, Wizard of Oz, and Seussical. I then decided to purse dance more seriously and began dancing competitively. When I was 14, I had the opportunity to choreograph my first musical, High School Musical. Now, I have choreographed Guys and Dolls, Legally Blonde, and assisted Beauty and the Beast. For the past year, I have been instructing dance classes for Oswegoland Park District. Next year, I will be attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, to major in dance education. I am extremely excited to further my love for teaching dance within the next few years.
What are you most excited about sharing with Limelight participants?
I am looking forward to sharing and witnessing the excitement of putting together a show with all of the Limelight participants. I love watching all of the hard work come together.
What do you like most about theater and dance?
Similar to acting and theater, dance requires the dancer to act and display emotion through his/her body. I love that dance can be used to tell stories and depict emotions. I look forward to using dance to enhance the character’s emotions and important moments within the show.
What is your dream show to choreograph/dance in?
My dream show to choreograph would either be Grease or Hairspray. I love the upbeat jazz numbers in both of those shows.
